Patient Travel

Non-medical attendants will be approved for demonstrated necessity on an individual basis determined by the Chief of Medical Staff. Considerations are given to the age and status of the patient, nature of the procedure to be done, location of the TDY and duration of travel. In general, NMA reimbursement will not be approved to accompany a spouse, unless medically indicated to provide care for the patient. Listed below is a quick breakdown of required forms in order to process patient travel claims for reimbursement:
 
Active duty only

    • Constructed Travel Worksheet (travels over 400 miles one way)

Non-active duty only
